New speaker: Per Magnus Kommandantvold
(28.04.09) A new speaker is hereby introduced; Per Magnus Kommandantvold will hold the opening lecture on Wednesday May 6th. The title of the lecture is: "The research career: The EU perspective". He will speak about the policy in EU to make a research career attractive, and the perspectives of how to do it. This lecture will replace Håkan Billigs "EU white paper from the career path perspective", he had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Økonomisk støtte til sykepleiere og unge forskere
(22.04.09) Vi har gleden av å meddele at Nordea og HolbergFondene også i år vil sponse sykepleiere og unge forskere, slik at de kan få anledning til å delta på konferansen.
Mange i disse gruppene har lite midler til disposisjon og dette vil derfor være en kjærkommen støtte til å kunne hente inspirasjon og lærdom på årets konferanse. Dersom du er i en av disse målgruppene, kan du søke om midler via registreringsskjemaet til venstre, med en liten tekst i kommentarfeltet. Overnatting kan vi i utgangspunktet ikke tilby, men skriv opp det du ønsker å delta på. Vi må ha søknad helst innen fredag 24. april, senest mandag 27. april.
The beautiful surroundings of NRC 2009
(15.04.09) Solstrand Hotel is famous for it's beauty and the great atmosphere of wellness. We strongly recommend you to exploit early mornings and make use of the extraordinary facilities at Solstrand. We have visited Solstrand today, and are simply euphoric by the thought of staying there in 3 weeks time.
Wellness area
As a guest at NRC you may use the wellness area with panoramic view of the fjords and mountains for free: Swimmingpool, jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, sanarium, steambath, icy pool, fitness room and outdoor pool. The spa and wellness area is integrating Scandinavian bathing traditions and ideas of wellness, the SPA reflects the hotel’s vision of a rural idyll (it is possible to order SPA treatments at your own expense). Remember to bring your svimming costume/trunks :-)
The garden & leisure
The hotel is surrounded by a large garden facing the fjord. Enjoy a walk along the footpaths in the garden and along the coast, or explore the fjord’s deep, clear waters in one of our wooden rowboats or sea kayaks. Solstrand has a private quay, which is accessible to larger boats and where our boat to Lysøen will leave from. Fishing equipment can be purchased through the hotel. Read more
Art exhibition
From 25th of April to August an art exhibition is displayed both outside and inside the hotel.
Minor changes in the program
(16.04.09) Some unforeseen circumstances have occured, and there will be minor changes in the program:
- Nobel Laureate Harald Zur Hausen will give his lecture on Monday May 4th in the evening session between 18.00 - 20.00 (instead of Wednesday May 6th). Zur Hausen is a popular man, and will have to return to Germany on May 5th to receive an Honour Award for his work.
- Anne Lise Ryel from The Norwegian Cancer Society will be replaced by her colleague Ole Alexander Opdalshei on Tuesday May 5th morning session.
- "News from the Nordic countries" will be moved to Tuesday 5th after lunch.
We are happy to announce that the conference is now fully booked, and we are expecting more than 110 guests at Solstrand. If any "late bloomers" are registrering, we will try to sort it out, but can not guarantee that there are any rooms available. (Photo: "Small" at Flickr)

(13.03.09) The final date for registry has been set to Easter. However, Solstrand is a very popular hotel, therefore we encourage you to register as soon as possible. We are so looking forward to welcome you to NRC 2009, we have got very positive feedback on this years program, and with the beautiful surroundings at Solstrand Hotel we hope to give you the best of Norway in May! :-) The pictures are from NRC 2008 in Hardanger.

Ole Bull's island Lysøen
(09.03.09) The social aspect of NRC 2009 is important. The participants have rated the possibility to meet colleauges as one of the reasons to attend NRC again. This years social event is a boat trip with "MS Midthordland" to Lysøen, the summer residence of Ole Bull, the renowned violin virtuoso who inspired Edvard Grieg and travelled the world playing Norwegian music. In 1873, he transformed a 175-acre island into the fairytale kingdom that it still is today.
Godkjenning fra Norsk Sykepleierforbund
(04.03.09) NRC konferansen er godkjent av Norsk Sykepleierforbund som meritterende for godkjenning til klinisk spesialist i sykepleie/spesialsykepleie med totalt 16 timer (Jfr. kriterier for klinisk spesialist i sykepleie/spesialsykepleie - info finner du på www.sykepleierforbundet.no). Prekonferanse B "Research in nursing and other health professions" teller som 4,5 time. Deltagende sykepleiere får kursbevis.
2nd announcement
(27.02.09) The enrolment for NRC 2009 is well on schedule. We receive especially positive feedback on this years NRC program. We are pleased to notice that most participants also choose to attend one of the preconferences.

(19.02.08) The invitation to NRC 2009 is sent out to many of our contacts, and we are still distributing the invitation by e-mail. It is possible to attend parts of the conference, read more under the registration form. Please register before March 2nd! State secretary holds opening speach
(11.02.09) State secretary Dagfinn Sundsbø from the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services will give his contribution to NRC 2009 and hold the opening speach on Tuesday morning. Other featured speakers:

- Representatives from The Norwegian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (LMI); Olav Flaten and Tove Karlsrud
The brochure has been distributed to the whole NRC-network, but we will also send it to other target groups in the following weeks. You are all most welcome to register for NRC 4th - 6th of May 2009 at Solstrand Hotel! Please register within March 2nd.

Guest of Honour: Nobel laureate Harald Zur Hausen
(21.01.09) We have the pleasure to present Prof. Emeritus Harald zur Hausen as Guest of honour at NRC 2009. He has done research on cancer of the cervix, where he discovered the role of papilloma viruses, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine 2008. The Nobel Laureate will hold a lecture on Wednesday morning: "Perspectives of tumour virus biology".
Altogether we now have 15 speakers confirmed for the main conference from Monday evening until Wednesday lunch time. In addition we have 9 speakers that will give their contribution to the two Preconferences you can choose between. The program is complete and NRC 2009 is running up to become a very succesful conference. You are most welcome to attend!

The 4th NRC will be arranged between Monday 4th - Wednesday 6th of May 2009 at Solstrand Hotel. Please hold the dates and have a look at the web page of the beautiful Solstrand hotel.
The Faculty will have a meeting in October to plan next years programme.

(03.-04.12.07) The NRC Faculty meeting took place in Copenhagen in December. They planned next years conference and the future plans ahead.
