Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Senior Vice President for Research at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In addition, she is Director of the Center for Faculty Development and Diversity at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Director of the Regulatory Domain of the Harvard Catalyst, the Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Award. Dr. Bierer, a hematologist and medical oncologist, maintained until recently a research laboratory focusing on the biochemistry of T cell activation and immunosuppression. She has authored or co-authored over 150 publications and is on the editorial boards of a number of journals including Current Protocols of Immunology.  From 2002-2009, she was the President of the Board of Directors of the Association for Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP).  She is currently a member of the AAMC-AAU Advisory Committee on Financial Conflicts of Interest in Clinical Research; on the National Academies of Sciences Committee on Science, Technology and the Law; and on the Secretary’s Advisory Committee for Human Research Protections, for which she serves as chair.
