Torgeirsson, Gudmundur

gudmundur.jpgMD, PhD is a specialist in cardiology at Landspitali University Hospital in Reykjavík, Iceland. Dean of  the Medical Faculty, University of Iceland, from 2009.  

 

After graduating from Medical School in Reykjavík he did his PhD in Experimental Pathology and later his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in cardiology at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio He´s been a professor in Clinical Pharmacology but since 2008 a professor and Faculty chairman of Internal Medicine at the University of Iceland. 

Active researcher in basic science (endothelial signaling), clinical research, including extensive experience in clinical trials, and in the last few years an active researcher in the field of genetics in cooperation with Decode genetics and the Icelandic Heart Association.
